Police in New York this week released photos of three suspects who attacked an Asian American man in New York, leaving him with head injuries.
The incident happened on October 24 on Fifth Ave. near W. 31st St. at around 10:30 at night.
The suspects made anti-Asian remarks to the victim before assaulting him, police say.
“What are you doing here, Asian?” the victim reported the suspects saying, reported the New York Daily News.
Police said Thursday the men beat the 30-year-old victim with a stick along with two women.
So far this year there have been 474 hate crimes reported in the city, 96% more than the same time last year.
127 or 27% of the victims are Asian compared to 28 during the same period last year.
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating this latest incident.
A $3500 reward is being offered in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call 800-577-TIPS or DM NYPDtips.
