Elderly Asian Man Attacked at an ATM in San Francisco

An elderly Asian man was attacked with a glass bottle at an ATM in San Francisco, ABC 7 reports.

The 84-year-old man was at the Union Bank ATM along California Street before noon on Monday when a man approached him.

“Give me money! Give me your money! Give me money!” the man screamed at Marc, the elderly Asian man.

Marc gestured towards his messenger bag, trying to indicate to the man that he was retrieving cash for him. That’s when the man began hitting him with a glass bottle.

Marc now has a bruised and swollen face. His daughter Ana says he has no major injuries, but doctors believe he may have broken sinus bones that will require surgery.

Marc is one of several elderly Asian people who have been attacked in San Francisco over the past year. In June, a 94-year-old Asian woman was stabbed. In March, a video of an elderly Asian woman who fought back against her attacker went viral, CBS News reports.

Marc and his family hope the police catch the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD.
