Transit police in Philadelphia are investigating what they are calling a racially motivated attack against Asian American high school students.
“It’s clear they were picked on because they were Asian,” SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel said Thursday, according to Philly Voice.
The incident happened between a group of teens from Central High on a SEPTA train and youths from another high school.
Al Dia News reports the teens jumped an Asian girl who tried to intervene to protect the younger students.
Police released video of the incident on social media.
According to Fox 29, the confrontation began actually a day earlier on the SEPTA train when the same group of teens allegedly harassed the Asian youth.
A mother of one of the victims spoke to Philly Voice through a translator.
“We are a city of love, not a city of hate,” she said.
Police say they’ve identified the offending teens, but no arrests have been made as of Thursday.

Why were there no other passengers coming to her aide?! That is just as bad as the perpetrators.
