A son jumped into action and chased a suspect away as he allegedly tried to rob his mom.
It happened in Oakland outside their home.
Surveillance video obtained by ABC7 News reporter Dion Lim and used in the investigation by the Oakland Police Department shows a man following a woman as she arrived at home.
The video shows a man hurriedly following behind her up the front steps.
The man walks out of the frame of the video and next you see him struggling with the mom and another woman who is identified as her daughter to grab the mother’s purse. The two women stumble onto the sidewalk as the purse falls to the ground and the man runs off.
The son momentarily gives chase, before stopping within seconds to check on his mom and sister. Moments later, he runs in pursuit of the suspect and the sister who is identified only as Jamie also gives chase.
Lim reported on her Instagram account that the son heard his mom’s screams and came out of the house to his mother’s rescue.
The sister who is identified only as Jamie said the man escaped in a getaway vehicle. She tells Lim they weren’t thinking about what they did or the danger they put themselves in pursuing the suspect.

Here we have another example of a criminal too lazy to go and work for a living. A person who feels entitled to rob a woman and feels that it is his right to have her belongings. Does that seem proper? I am glad that this victim’s son was able to defend his family and fight off this low life attacker! It is certainly better than reading about another criminal who has just killed or debilitated a hard working honest Asian citizen. Thank you for defending your family.
