Saweetie threw out the first pitch for Filipino Heritage Night at the Dodgers game on Thursday, July 7.
“To be representing my heritage tonight, I heard I’m the first Filipina woman to ever do so. I know my Grandma, my Lolo, my Lola is really proud of me. I’m just really grateful,” the Filipina rapper, who is also Black and Chinese, told Spectrum News.
The crowd cheered as the Saweetie took the mound and prepared to throw the first pitch.
“It’s time for Dodgers baseball. Let’s go!” she said as she addressed the crowd.
The first pitch was on target. Fans at the game and on social media were impressed that the star managed to throw the pitch with incredibly long jewel-studded nails.
“There’s @Saweetie throwing the first pitch of the @Dodgers game with these nails,” TOGETHXR, a women’s sports media company tweeted. “And then there’s me struggling to type with a press on set.”
Saweetie told Spectrum News that she was nervous to throw at the pitch because of her nails.
