Suspect in murder of baby and 3 others pleads not guilty

The man facing charges in the murder of an 8-month-old and three others in the same family pleaded not guilty Thursday.

Authorities believe Jesus Salgado killed baby Aroohi, both her parents and her uncle, within an hour after kidnapping them in a Central California community in Merced County, reports NDTV.

According to KFSN, Salgado appeared in court wearing shackles and a safety garment.

Salgado’s brother, Alberto, also appeared in court on related charges of arson, criminal conspiracy and accessory.

The investigation into the family’s disappearance began when police found the uncle’s truck on fire in the town on Winton.

The investigation lead police to the family’s trucking company where Salgado once work. Authorities say he has had a long-running feud with the family.

NDTV reports surveillance video found at the company showed Salgado kidnapping and leading them away at gunpoint.

A private funeral will be held for the family on Saturday. They have been identified as Aroohi Dheri; her 27-year-old mother Jasleen Kaur; her 36-year-old father Jasdeep Singh; and her 39-year-old uncle Amandeep Singh.
