The city of Los Angeles is offering a $50,000 for information leading to the suspect or suspects responsible for the death of an 81-year-old woman.
Police officers found Ok Ja Kim underneath her bed in her Woodland Hills home on August 2, KTLA reports. Authorities say she was stabbed, strangled and burned to death. They believe someone killed her while attempting to rob her home.
The gruesome murder has shocked investigators.
“I can honestly say that in my entire career, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a senseless and brutal act of murder,” LAPD Detective Sharon Kim told NBC Los Angeles.
Kim’s family is still in shock.
“As a family, we’re going to be grappling with this, the circumstances with this, for a very long time,” Kim’s daughter, Clara Kim, during a press conference on Thursday, according to ABC 7. “The reality of it is, this could’ve been anybody’s family. This could’ve been your mom, this could’ve been your dad, this could’ve been your grandparent, and this could’ve been your child.”
The family is asking for the public’s help finding the killer(s).
“We need your help,” Kim said, according to NBC Los Angeles. “This was monstrous, this is disgusting, and it needs to be stopped.
