Actor Dave Bautista revealed in a GQ interview that he had a tattoo covered up after a friend made a series of homophobic statements.
Though Bautista did not reveal the former friend’s name, a previous tattoo of Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao’s team logo was removed from Bautista’s left arm.
“I was part of a team of a person I considered a friend and someone I really looked up to,” Bautista told GQ. “And then, he later came out publicly with some anti-gay statements and turned out to be an extreme homophobe.”
Bautista openly shows support for the LGBTQ+ community on his social media. Last year, he posted during Pride Month in support of his mother, who is a lesbian.
“It’s a personal issue with me,” Bautista told GQ. “And I just could no longer call him a friend.”
In a 2016 interview with TV5 in the Philippines, Pacquiao stated that homosexuals are “worse than animals,” BBC reported. Bautista criticized his former teammate and called him an “idiot,” according to TMZ.
“You can’t come back from that, man. There’s no coming back from that,” Bautista told TMZ.
