Actor Dave Bautista revealed in a GQ interview that he had a tattoo covered up after a friend made a series of homophobic statements.
Though Bautista did not reveal the former friend’s name, a previous tattoo of Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao’s team logo was removed from Bautista’s left arm.
“I was part of a team of a person I considered a friend and someone I really looked up to,” Bautista told GQ. “And then, he later came out publicly with some anti-gay statements and turned out to be an extreme homophobe.”
Bautista openly shows support for the LGBTQ+ community on his social media. Last year, he posted during Pride Month in support of his mother, who is a lesbian.
“It’s a personal issue with me,” Bautista told GQ. “And I just could no longer call him a friend.”
