Ke Huy Quan acknowledged the historic moment of being the first Asian actor to ever win a SAG Award Sunday night for best supporting actor.
Clearly moved by the moment, he tearfully accepted the honor with a nod to history.
“I quickly realized that this moment no longer belongs just to me. It also belongs to everyone who has asked for change,” he said. “When I stepped away from acting, it was because there were so few opportunities. Now tonight, here we are. The landscape looks so different than before. So thank you so much for all of you in this room and everyone who contributed to these changes. Lastly to all those at home, who are watching, who are struggling and waiting to be seen, please keep on going because the spotlight will one day find you.”
Clearly feeling the love, he concluded by saying “Thank you everyone for rooting for me. I will be rooting for you. Thank you so much.”

Quan has also won in the same category at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.
Co-star Jamie Lee Curtis who played an IRS auditor, Deirdre, in the film accepted the award for best supporting actress wearing the wedding ring her father, Tony Curtis, gave to her mother, Janet Leigh. She called herself a “Nepo baby” from an acting family.

“The truth of the matter is I’m 64 years old and this is just amazing,” she said to loud cheers.
Then Curtis acknowledged her fellow star, Michelle Yeoh.
“You say Michelle, I say Yeoh,” she said leading the crowd in a cheer.
“Michelle,” she proclaimed.
“Yeoh,” responded the audience.
“Michelle.”
“Yeoh.”
“I love you, I love you, I love you,” she said looking at Yeoh.
“For all the Deirdre’s, for all the Evelyn’s in the world. We love you. We see you. We feel you. We are you. We’re here together. God bless you all. What a dream man.”
