The New York Police Department Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the assault in Queens by three people who yelled anti-Asian slurs at two victims reports the New York Daily News.
A video released by Crime Stoppers shows a woman getting out of an Acura SUV along with two men. Authorities say the woman had earlier shouted “ugly Asian” at two victims, a 44-year-old Asian woman and a 24-year-old man. Three people including two men then got out of the SUV and proceeded to punch and kick the two, according to the New York Daily News.
It’s unclear whether the victims who were walking down the street on Junction Boulevard near 38th Avenue in Flushing Thursday knew each other.
The Daily Mail reports both victims were taken to the hospital with head injuries. The suspects escaped in their SUV down Roosevelt Avenue and remain unidentified. Police have not released a description of the suspects.
