Isaiah Wong and the University of Miami have advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, also known as March Madness. According to The Miami Herald, Wong’s great-grandfather is Chinese.
The no. 5 seed Miami beat the no. 2 seed Texas Longhorns 88-81 on Sunday afternoon. Wong played 36 minutes and scored 14 points as a guard for Miami, ESPN reports.
According to the University of Miami’s website, Wong is currently a fourth-year junior from Piscataway, New Jersey. He attended Monsignor Bonner High School. This year he was named player of the year in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and NABC Third Team All-American.
Before Sunday’s game, DraftKings reported that Wong was a projected mid-second-round selection for the upcoming NBA draft. They stated, however, that they believed Wong would need to have a big game against the Longhorns to stay in draft pick contention. Time will tell if his big 14 points swayed NBA teams.
