China Mama, a restaurant in Las Vegas’ Chinatown, is looking for a new location after its original home was destroyed by a fire.
According to FOX 5 Vegas, the fire started in China Mama’s kitchen on March 30. The business, which had been open for over 20 years, was forced to shut down.
“Thankfully no one got hurt in the kitchen,” Xiaohui Ma, the owner of China Mama, told FOX 5 Vegas.
Ma had been planning to open a second location and told FOX 5 Vegas that process will likely be accelerated because of the fire at the original location.
“Right now, the original China Mama location will be closed for six months to a year I’m guessing,” she told FOX 5 Vegas
A correspondent told the Las Vegas Review-Journal recently that the restaurant may open in the recently-closed just-closed IX Skewer & Bar.
It is unclear where the second location might be but Ma told FOX 5 Vegas she hopes to open China Mama by Christmas.
