The man charged with murder in the killing of a pregnant Seattle business owner has pleaded not guilty.
Eina Kwon, 34, was sitting in her Tesla with her husband Sung-hyun at a red light on June 13 in Seattle when a vehicle pulled up beside them and shot at their Tesla several times.
The couple was rushed to the hospital. The husband survived but Kwon and her unborn baby died.
Police arrested suspect Cordell Goosby, 30, the same day. Court documents claim Goosby yelled, “I did it! I did it!” when police approached him, KING5 reports.
Goosby told police that he had a history of mental health issues, appearing to be in distress when he was arrested. Police believe he used a stolen gun to shoot at the Tesla.
King County prosecutors have charged Goosby with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. He made his first court appearance on Thursday, June 29, and pleaded not guilty, KOMO News reports.
Kwon owned the Japanese restaurant Aburiya Bento House. According to NBC News, community members described her as an “incredible human being.” She leaves behind her husband and a two-year-old son.
