South Korea’s most successful K-pop group BTS released their highly anticipated book Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS on July 9.
The debut book quickly climbed the Amazon Best Sellers list, reaching the top of Amazon’s Best Sellers in Biographies and Memoirs within a day.
Back in May, rumors about a soon-to-be-published BTS book with no title or cover swirled online. It wasn’t set to be announced until June 13 or released until July 9, The New York Times reports.
Soon, however, netizens pieced together the dates and suspected that the book would be released by BTS for their upcoming 10-year anniversary.
‘Beyond the Story: 10-Year Records of BTS’ is a biography of the band members (RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, V, Jimin, and Jungkook), written by author Myeongseok Kang and BTS themselves. It has been translated into 23 other languages including Korean and English, and is published by Flatiron Books.
The New York Times describes the biography as an “oral history of the K-pop group in South Korea and the United States.”
The K-Pop stars have risen over the years as iconic global artists. Beyond the Story looks back on their journey from before their debut to the present.
“In doing so, BTS nurtures the power to build brighter days and they choose to take another step on a road that no one has gone before,” a description of the book from Macmillan Publishers reads.
USA Today reports that the book took around three years of research and interviews to write, according to a release.
The story is split into seven chronological chapters: ‘SEOUL’, ‘WHY WE EXIST’, ‘LOVE, HATE, ARMY’, ‘INSIDE OUT’, ‘A FLIGHT THAT NEVER LANDS’, ‘THE WORLD OF BTS’ and ‘WE ARE’.
Inside, the book includes 544 pages of “artist interviews, concept photos, tracklists of all previous albums and more than 330 QR codes to check out,” according to Billboard.
The ‘Beyond the Story’ has over 1.5K ratings on Goodreads, with an average rating of 4.92 stars.
The book can be ordered online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
