Large crowds gathered in San Francisco’s Chinatown on Friday and Saturday for two night markets ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in San Francisco.
According to the SF Gate, the market took place between Pine and Sacramento. Attendees visited different booths with vendors selling food and other cultural goods. There was also a Lion Dance on Grant Avenue.
The market used a ticket system designed to avoid long waits in lines. Tickets could be purchased for $5 each and used at booths. According to SF Gate, the market was so packed that vendors quickly ran out of their products before 7 p.m.
Residents and business owners in the area saw the markets as a good advertisement for Chinatown during the APEC summit.
“Because of APEC, I want the outside of the community know San Francisco it’s a really big Chinatown. I want them to come enjoy the food and let them know Chinatown is all kind of food, all kind of gift shop. I want them to come and see,” Lily Lo with BeChinatown, told NBC Bay Area.
