Jo Koy is looking golden these days. He’s set to host the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards on CBS in January, the network announced.
The popular Filipino American comic recently appeared in a guest appearance on Awkwafina Nora from Queens and co-starred in The Haunted Mansion. Prior to that he starred as the lead on Easter Sunday.
“I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year,” said Koy in a statement excerpted by EW. “This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!”
For those who don’t speak Tagalog, Mahal Kita translates to “I love you.”
According to Stylecaster, his Funny is Funny World Tour broke sales records. He will play the voice of Monkey King in the upcoming animated film Tiger Apprentice on February, 2024 on Paramount +.
“Jo’s genuine brand of comedy is sure to entertain our honorees in the room at the Beverly Hilton and viewers at home, said executive producing showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner. “We are excited to work with him to make this year’s show laugh-out-loud from beginning to end.”
