Parents of six children killed in a freeway car crash

Jennifer and Ryan Ambrosio, the parents of six children, were killed in a car crash on the Lodge Freeway in Southfield, Michigan.

According to Click on Detroit, the crash occurred on Saturday, Jan. 6, in the early morning. Jennifer, 43, and Ryan, 45, were driving home from a date night when they were struck by a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes.

The couple was from Farmington Hills, where they were active members at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Parish.

“That love [for] each other is very tight, very strong. I see them always like a good team,” Noriko Ernst, Director of Music Ministry at the parish, told CBS News.

Police say the 35-year-old man driving the vehicle that killed the Ambrosios was attempting to flee from authorities. He and a 29-year-old woman in the passenger’s seat were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The driver has been arrested.

The Ambrosios leave behind six children ranging in age from 2 to 9 years old. A GoFundMe page has been started to support the children. It has raised over $429,000 so far.
