The 700-million-dollar man now has perhaps the biggest catch in his life.
Shohei Ohtani announced in an Instagram post that he is now married.
“Not only have I begun a new chapter in my career with the Dodgers but I also have begun a new life with someone from my Native country of Japan who is very special to me, and I wanted everyone to know I am now married,” he wrote in his social media post.
No word on who the lucky woman might be as he chose not to name her or share a photo of her. He also did not disclose when he got married.
The announcement comes just about 10 weeks after he signed a record $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the crosstown rivals of his former team- the Los Angeles Angels.
It’s been a big week for the two-way superstar known for both his pitching and hitting prowess. His first hit as a Dodger came Tuesday when he homered in an exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox.
However, he is not expected to pitch this season as he is still recovering from elbow surgery. Dodger Manager Dave Roberts says Ohtani’s main role this season will be as a designated hitter.
