“Dirty Harry” arrested in death of family of 4

A man known as “Dirty Harry” has been arrested for the deaths of four people who froze to death trying to cross the US-Canadian border illegally, American Kahani reports.

Harshkumar Ramanlal Patel, 28, faces charges of conspiracy and transportation of undocumented migrants following his arrest in Chicago last week.

The incident happened two years ago near Emerson, Manitoba in Canada.

39-year-old Jagdish Patel, his 37-year-old wife, Vaishali, their 11-year -old daughter, Vihangi, and three-year-old son, Dharmik, were found dead just 39 feet from the U.S. border.

Court documents obtained by the CBC allege Harshkumar Patel recruited another accused smuggler, Steve Shand, to transport people secretly across the border.

“Make sure everyone is dressed for the blizzard,” Shand texted Harshkumar Patel two years ago just prior to the family being found dead, those court records say.

Authorities say the Patel family had become separated from others who were being smuggled. When Shand was found with two others in his van, authorities learned that he had lost sight of the Patels, NBC News reported.

They were later found dead.
