It’s been a great first year with Stanford baseball for freshman pitcher Christian Lim.
According to The Stanford Daily, Lim won Pac-12 pitcher of the week twice during his freshman season. During a game against Rice University in March, Stanford Athletics reported that Lim struck out 10 batters and pitched six scoreless innings. His stellar pitching helped the team earn an 8-2 victory.
A few weeks later, he struck out 11 batters against Creighton, earning him one of his Pac-12 pitcher of the week awards.
In an interview with The Stanford Daily, Lim spoke about watching players like Yu Darvish, Ichiro Suzuki, Shin-Soo Choo and Shohei Ohtani when he was a kid.
“Just the fact that someone who looks like me was having so much success at the biggest stage really helped me find inspiration when I was growing up,” Lim said in the interview.
Lim also told The Stanford Daily that it’s important to have Asian American representation in baseball as well as a more inclusive playing field overall. He hopes he can be a role model for future Asian American players.
