Asian American golfer Andrea Lee is tied for first after the third round of the United States Women’s Open.
The 25-year-old from southern California finished the day on Saturday with back-to-back birdies to bring her to -5. She currently shares the lead with Australian golfer Minjee Lee and Thai golfer Wichanee Meechai.
According to Golf Monthly, Lee began playing golf at just 5 years old under the tutelage of her father and competing in tournaments at 8. She won an astounding 50 junior titles as a child.
Lee attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, Essentially Sports reports. After graduating she enrolled at Stanford University. While there, she became the most decorated player at the time, Golf Monthly reports. She left Stanford in 2019 to go pro.
According to the U.S. Women’s Open website, Lee will tee off tomorrow at 2:15 p.m. EST.
