Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono will be on the ballot this November as she seeks a third term, beating out Ron Curtis and Clyde McClain Lewman in Hawaii’s Democratic primary election held Saturday, reports the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
The Japanese American politician said she is “honored and grateful to Hawaii’s voters for once again putting their faith in me.”
“We can’t stop now. Work remains to protect our fundamental rights, defend our democracy, continue lowering costs, ensure Red Hill’s safe closure, and support Maui’s recovery.”
This November, Hirono is expected to win against Bob McDermott, who won the Republican Senate primary yesterday, reports Fox News.
Hawaii Representatives Jill Tokuda and Ed Case, who are both Democrats, also won yesterday to make November’s ballot for potential reelection. Tokuda, who is Japanese American, will be running against Republican Steven Bond and Libertarian Aaron Toman, and Case will be facing Republican Patrick Largey.
Hawaii’s fourth incumbent Congressmember, Democratic Sen. Brian Schatz, is not up for reelection this year.
