The mission was supposed to only last eight days, but now Asian American astronaut Sunita Williams will be stuck in space until the spring of next year.
Williams and her colleague Butch Wilmore arrived at the International Space Station in June via the Boeing Starliner. According to BBC, the Starliner has several issues like leaks in its propulsion system and thrusters shutting down.
On Saturday, August 24, NASA announced that the Starliner would return with no passengers aboard. Williams and Wilmore will return next year, likely in February 2025.
