Harris launches new ads for AAPI voters in battleground states

The Harris-Walz campaign this morning released new ads focusing on Asian American and Pacific Islander voters in battleground states.

One ad released in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin features both workers and small business owners supporting the Vice President’s plan that they believe will help Asian Americans build home ownership, thriving small businesses and support families.

The ad is called Economy.

Another ad to air specifically in Nevada focuses on Harris’ plan to do away with taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.

The campaign builds on one launched this summer called Pinoy Pride and is aimed at Nevada’s growing Filipino American population.

Earlier, the Impact Fund and Presidential SuperPAC Future Forward partnered to initiate a $3.5 million ad campaign targeting Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) voters in four battleground states — Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina and Michigan. This ad blitz is part of an overarching $50 million ad campaign from Vice President Kamala Harris’s super PAC.

“The ads will be featured across multiple platforms, including TV, digital and radio channels to reach 1.3 million eligible AAPI voters, including 400,000 South Asian voters… The campaign will last through Election Day,” The Impact Fund, a leading national political organization representing Indian and South Asian communities, said in a press release from Friday.

The campaign will highlight key issues of concern for AAPI voters, such as the economy, abortion rights and supporting caregivers, while showing how Harris’s South Asian heritage and background inform those values.

The press release also stated that the campaign is the largest independent expenditure program ever focused on AAPI voters for a presidential candidate.

“We are witnessing an unprecedented moment for South Asian and Asian Americans in U.S. politics,” said Chintan Patel, Executive Director of The Impact Fund, in the press release. “This partnership with Future Forward represents a historic investment in ensuring South Asian and AAPI voices are heard at the ballot box, and with Kamala Harris leading the charge, we have a unique opportunity to make history.”

On Oct. 1, about two weeks prior to Friday’s press release, the Indian American Impact Fund had funded a GBAO poll that revealed that among South Asian voters in key battleground states, Harris leads Donald Trump by a 48-point margin.

About 68% of voters preferred Harris compared to 20% for Trump, while 7% remained undecided and 4% would vote for other candidates. The poll also showed that 26% of respondents considered inflation and the economy as the most important issue to them. The second was abortion at 19%.

  1. If Harris wants our Asian Americans votes, we should demand that she promises to appoint at least one cabinet member who is Asian American. Don’t give out our votes without some reward!
