Democrat Dave Min has overtaken Republican Scott Baugh in the California Congressional District 47 race in Irvine.
This while Republican incumbent Michelle Steel’s lead in neighboring District 45 in Garden Grove is narrowing against Democrat Derek Tran.
Both races are being closely watched as Republicans seek to retain control of the House after already gaining both the White House and the Senate.
Min currently leads Baugh by 3214 votes with a narrow 50.5% to 49.5% lead with 84% of the vote counted.
Baugh had a 3,000-vote lead at the end of election night, but that lead slowly slipped away.
In the equally competitive District 45 race, Steel’s lead has slipped to just 1.4 percentage points after leading Tran by more than 5 percentage points election night.
Steel currently leads Tran 143,184 – 139,276.
Meanwhile, in Arizona’s District 1, Republican incumbent David Schweikert retains a 4 percentage point lead over Democrat Amish Shah. KTAR News reports the Associated Press called the race for Schweikert on Sunday.
According to CNN, Republicans need to flip just four more seats to gain control of the House in the next Congress.
They currently have a 214 – 205 lead with 218 needed to win a majority.
