A 19 year old is under arrest and charged in the murders of four people, including three Filipino Americans in Lancaster near Los Angeles.
ABS-CBN reports that police believe Miguel Diego Sandoval broke into a family’s home and shot and killed Christina Aca-Ac and Janvi Maquindang, Aca-ac’s fiancé Edwin Garcia, and Maquindang’s Filipino-American partner Matthew Montebello.
According to KTLA, prosecutors say Sandoval then set the home on fire.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of these four lives, including a brother and sister, who were callously shot as they peacefully slept in their beds,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. “This shooting has devastated the Lancaster community, and our hearts go out to the victims’ families, who are suffering from this sudden incomprehensible loss.”
“Christine was a loving sister and a funny, vibrant, and deeply caring friend. She was loved by many for her infectious laughter, generosity, and ability to make everyone feel welcome,” Jasmine Maquindang wrote on a GoFuneMe page to raise money for funeral expenses and to support the family.
“Janvi was a bright and successful young man with a future full of promise. He graduated as a valedictorian of his high school class and was already making his mark on the world.”
The campaign has so far raised more than $28,000.
Sandoval is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Jan 27.
