CBS has ordered a pilot episode for a multi-camera comedy starring stand-up comedian Zarna Garg, called Zarna, Deadline reports. The comedy will be produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mindy Kaling’s Kaling International and Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show is about “a proud immigrant woman,” played by Garg, “who’s been raising her American born kids on Indian values.” As her children get older, Garg’s character decides it’s time to focus on her own American dream.
The show will reflect on Garg’s own story, Deadline reports.
Garg will also serve as an executive producer and writer on the show.
