An Indian American businesswoman filed a lawsuit against PayPal claiming the company discriminated against her for being Asian American.
Nisha Desai says a company program intended to promote investments among Black and other minority investors discriminated against her because she’s the “wrong kind of minority,” reported Reuters.
The law firm behind the lawsuit, according to TechCrunch, is Consovoy McCarthy ,the same firm with ties to Edward Blum, the man who successfully won a case in the U.S. Supreme Court overturning the use of race in college admissions.
Opponents of affirmative action have since turned their attention to oppose corporate diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
“PayPal discriminated against Ms. Desai based on her race,” attorney Patrick Strawbridge Consovoy McCarthy said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal. “This discrimination is antithetical to our laws and to the very spirit of the alleged purpose of PayPal’s program.”
