A judge Friday in Las Vegas sentenced to 10-25 years in prison a woman who pleaded guilty of running over a nail salon manager with her vehicle.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports Krystal Whipple made no statement at her sentencing hearing.

Prosecutors say Whipple dragged Nhu “Annie” Ngoc Nguyen 50 feet after Whipple ran out of the nail salon over a $35 manicure bill in 2019.

According to KTNV, Whipple told Nguyen she would go to her vehicle to get cash, but Nguyen followed her out and chased her when she took off in her car.

“She was the epitome of selflessness and always assumed responsibility as the head of the household,” Nguyen’s daughter, Christy Le, said during the sentencing hearing, according to the Review Journal. “My greatest regret is not being able to take off that baggage for her, and to make her proud of what I’ve accomplished through her. My achievements are her achievements, and I want her to know that her efforts were not wasted. We all miss her very much.”

AsAmNews reported in 2019 that Whipple had been driving a stolen car and using a fraudulent credit card. A Go Fund Page raised $37,000. The family used the money to pay for funeral expenses and towards Christy’s college tuition.
