Businessweek declared this weekend that Olivia Rodrigo is the biggest musician in the world.
That’s a tall compliment for someone who signed her first record contract in 2020.
The publication based its declaration on the pop stars streams and record sales, 295,000 album sales for her debut album Sour and 544 million Spotify streams.
According to Don’t Bore Us, the Filipino American debut song Driver’s License became the fastest song to hit 100 million views ever.
Businessweek reports her album Sour is the biggest debut of any album this year.
“It’s one of the biggest records out of the gate ever,” record executive John Janick told Businessweek.
Rodrigo’s star shines well beyond the U.S. borders. In the UK this week she boasts three top 5 singles. Those singles are Good 4 U, Déjà Vu, and Traitor. She’s the first female artists ever to accomplish that.
Among the men to achieve that distinction are John Lennon, Drake and Justin Bieber, according to Billboard.
