Kyle Larson wins NASCAR All-Star Race

Professional auto racing driver Kyle Larson won the NASCAR All-Star Race on the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday.

Larson, who is Japanese American, captured his second win in the race after first triumphing in 2019. According to CBS Sports, Larson is the eighth driver in NASCAR history to claim multiple victories in the All-Star Race.

While Larson took the lead and maintained it for good with eight laps to go, according to Yahoo Sports, he said he thought the race was an uphill battle.

“Did not imagine seeing myself winning this race today,” Larson said after his victory.

Larson has been on a tear in his past few races. His All-Star win marked his third consecutive victory after successes in the Coca-Cola 600 and at Sonoma Raceway, Yahoo Sports reported.

His meteoric resurgence in auto racing comes a little over a year after he was fired from his racing organization, dropped by many of his sponsors and suspended by NASCAR for using the n-word during an online racing competition. Since then, he has met with Black community leaders and made financial reparations to the Black community, according to the Charlotte Observer.

He was reinstated by NASCAR in October 2020, signed with Hendrick Motorsports later that month and has been competing ever since.
