More revealed about Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings

Marvel unveiled new details about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Thursday with the unveiling of the latest trailer.

The big reveal is the return of a menace, the Abomination, last seen in Ang Lee’s Hulk and again in an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It hasn’t been seen since, until now, according to Shortlist.

We’ve learned that Tim Roth will take on the role of the Abomination.

The trailer packs a powerful punch and, according to Movie Web, director Destin Daniel Cretton has let on that the fight scenes drew its inspiration from Oscar winner Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and martial artist Ang Lee.

“We also had choreographers from mainland China who created some beautiful wuxia-style fight scenes,” said Cretton. “It was important for us from the beginning to have the MCU’s first Asian American superhero be a superhero. We want him to be on par with other superheroes in the MCU and not just be the master of kung fu. Shang-Chi is an incredible martial artist, but he’s so much more than that.”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu and follow the story of Shang-Chi who is trained to be an assassin at a young age by his father Wenwu.

Shang-Chi leaves the organization to return to San Francisco, but somehow gets pulled back into the secret world to confront his past.
