Two bodies found in the Passaic River in New Jersey have been identified as that of missing Indian American students, reports India West.
Friends Nidhi Rana, 18, and Ayush Rana, 21 had been missing since September 1 when flood waters swept away their car.
They are the 28th and 29th fatal victims of Hurricane Ida in New Jersey.
Search and rescue crews had been searching for a week for the two, reports ABC News.
“They were both our prom king and queen this year… they were avid tennis players and members of community and school clubs,” Passaic City Mayor Hector C. Lora said.
Ayush Rana attended Montclair State University and Nidhi Rana went to Seton Hall University, according to India West. In all, at least five Indian Americans have been killed by Hurricane Ida.
