The Los Angeles Times reports that Sandra Oh, Lucy Liu and director Christine Choy of “Who Killed Vincent Chin” fame are among a diverse group of people invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
This year the Academy is inviting a lot more people to join after realizing its membership is less diverse than moviegoers.
According to a study by the Los Angeles Times, 77 percent of the Academy is men, 94 percent is Caucasian.
