Nina Davuluri to Co-Host 100th Anniversary Miss America Competition

Former Miss America Nina Davuluri will co-host the 100th Anniversary Miss America competition alongside Ericka Dunlap.

The competition, which will be held on December 16, announced Davuluri as a co-host on Wednesday in a press release.

Davuluri won the Miss America competition in 2013, making her Miss America 2014. She was the first Indian American and South Asian to become Miss America.

The 32-year-old public speaker was born in Syracuse, New York. She moved to Oklahoma when she was four and to Michigan when she was 10. She earned her Bachelor of Science in cognitive science from the University of Michigan.

After winning the competition, her Miss America platform became “Celebrating Diversity through Cultural Competency.” Her goal was to confront bullying by talking about diversity in an open and respectful way.

Davuluri is also working on a documentary called #COMPLEXion, which addresses the complexities of skin color.

The 100th Anniversary competition will be held on Thursday, December 16 at 8:00PM ET at the award-winning 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. It will stream on NBCUniversal’s streaming platform Peacock.

Several former Miss Americas will also feature as panelists.

“As we planned our 100th Miss America Anniversary competition, we felt who better to honor and celebrate the heritage of this iconic institution than the amazing women who have actually held the title,” said Shantel Krebs, Miss America Organization Board Chair and Interim President and CEO.  “We are excited to have our Forever Miss Americas join us as co-hosts and panelists as they truly understand the hard work and commitment that each of these incredible young women have put in over the past year as they prepare for our final night of competition and the official title of Miss America 2022.”
