The reveal of Rudy Giuliani as the masked singer on the Fox program drew the ire of judge Ken Jeong.
The comedian walked off the set when Giuliani revealed himself as the contestant.
For those unfamiliar with the program, guests hide behind a mask and the judges must guess who the celebrity might be.
During the taping of the Season 7 premiere, People reports the outspoken Jeong felt disrespected and stormed off while fellow host Robin Thick followed him. The other judges Nicole Scherzinger and Jenny McCarthy remained.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Jeong who is also a medical doctor blames Trump and Giuliani, for spreading misinformation about the COVID pandemic. Giuliani is also banned from practicing law in New York for making false statements about Trump’s 2020 presidential election loss.
“Ken has been incredibly vocal about how the previous administration handled many things but especially COVID-19 and has found a lot of what they’ve said not only wrong but dangerous,” says a source to People. “To get someone who helped to spread misinformation and call into question the accuracy of our election and democracy to appear on his show was going to set him off.”
Reps for both The Masked Singer and for Jeong did not return the magazine’s request for comment.
The Masked Singer returns to Fox on March 9.
