Huff Post: @JulieChen Speaks Out About Racism Seen on Her Show

Big Brother confrontation Aaryn and CandiceThe racial tension on “Big Brother” is reaching a boiling point and host Julie Chen is incensed about the whole thing, reports the Huffington Post.

Speaking on her day time show, “The Talk” about her prime time show, Chen said “Am I the only one who feels so enraged? This is the third time I’ve watched that clip, and it does not get any easier. I think it shows us all that in 2013, race is still a deeply, deeply personal issue and it is so extremely hurtful. And unless you have ever been on the receiving issue end of it, you simply do not know what it’s like to walk a mile in someone’s shoes.”

On Sunday nights “Big Brother,” Aaron Gries, the same contestant who made racial comments about Korean American contestant Helen Kim, this time lashed out at African American contestant Candice Stewart.

Aaryn flipped Candice’s mattress over and when Candice confronts Aaryn about it, Aaryn puts on a black accent asking Candice “”Whatchu gonna do girl?” and asks if she’s going to “let the black come out.”

The only contestant in the house who comes to Candice’s defense is fellow African American contestant Howard Overby who pulled Candice away and later consoled her.

You can watch clips of the incident and Chen’s remarks on the Huffington Post.
