Former President Donald Trump called his former Transportation Secretary “crazy” and attacked her family’s ties to China this week, The Hill reported.
The rant came after her husband, GOP Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, criticized Trump’s endorsements and wondered publicly if they would hurt the party’s chances of regaining the majority in Congress.
‘The Democrats have Mitch McConnell and his lovely wife, Elaine ‘Coco’ Chao, over a barrel,’ Trump said in a Truth Social post Wednesday, reported the Daily Mail.
Trump’s latest comments follow remarks he made on Saturday, according to the Courier-Journal.
“Why do Republican Senators allow a broken down hack politician, Mitch McConnell, to openly disparage hard-working Republican candidates for the United States Senate? This is such an affront to honor and to leadership,” Trump posted online Saturday. “He should spend more time (and money!) helping them get elected, and less time helping his crazy wife and family get rich on China!”
Chao immigrated from Taiwan as a child to the United States. Her father founded a shipping company, the Foremost Group, which does significant business overseas, including in China.
Questions have been raised about whether Chao has aided her father’s company through her government connections. She served four years under Trump, but resigned a day after the January 6 insurrection.
When asked, McConnel said he had no response to Trump’s attacks on his wife.
Among the candidates Trump has endorsed are Mehmet Oz who’s running for the U.S. Senate in Pennsyvania and former NFL star Hershel Walker who’s running for U.S. Senate out of Georgia. Both have no political experience.

McConnel’s non-defense of his wife is so much alike Cruz’ defense of his wife after trump insulted her (during the 2016 GOP primaries). What do you expect from a spineless political party?
