Seven Filipino American veterans chained themselves in front of the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco on Wednesday protesting Chinese aggression, reports the Inquirer.
The seven were part of a larger protest of 500 people from both the Filipino and Vietnamese American communities who demanded that China get out of Vietnam and the Philippines.
“They are here to defend the Philippines’ and Vietnam’s sovereignty against Chinese aggression,” said Rudy Asercion, commissioner of the Veterans War Memorial Commission.
There were no arrests and despite the civil disobedience, everything ended peacefully.
A similar protest was held at the United Nations and in Washington, D.C.
