K-pop bands win big at the VMAs

Four K-pop bands/artists took home awards last night at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Lisa wins Best K-pop video for “LALISA.”

Lisa, a band member of the K-pop band Blackpink, won the VMA for best K-pop music video for her “LALISA” music video. “LALISA” is Lisa’s first solo project. Lisa became the first female K-pop artist and the first K-pop solo artist to win the award.

“I want to thank all of my collaborators in my solo projects,” she said in her acceptance speech. “It made ‘Lalisa’ so much more special. Wings, you are like the most important ones. Thank you so much for making this happen. And, girls. I love you. Thank you for loving ‘Lalisa’ so much.”

SEVENTEEN wins Push Performance of the Year

The K-pop band SEVENTEEN won Push Performance of the Year with their song “Rock with You.” It was their first MTV VMA Award.

BLACKPINK wins Best Metaverse Performance

BLACKPINK made their U.S. Awards show debut at the VMAs, performing their song “Pink Venom. They won the VMA for Best Metaverse Performance for their virtual concert The Virtual.

“We had so much fun on this project, and we’re so glad everybody enjoyed it,” the group said in their acceptance speech.

BTS wins Group of the Year

BTS won Group of the Year but did not attend the awards ceremony. The band is currently in South Korea working on solo projects.
