Police Tuesday announced the arrest of a San Franciso man in a stabbing of an employee at a Chinatown bakery Monday.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports authorities arrested Fook Poy Lai, 61,and booked him into San Francisco County Jail.
He’s accused of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and a parole violation.
ABC7 News reports authorities released Lai on parole just ten days ago. According to Hoodline, he stabbed an elderly man in Portsmouth Square in 2016 and pled guilty to attempted murder in 2018.
Ding Lee said he witnessed the stabbing. He saw the suspect enter, not saying a word and then going behind the counter to stab the employee repeatedly.
“The guy is using the knife to punch down and stab the lady from the neck to the head and the shoulder, at least four or five times up and down,” Lee said to ABC7.
One witness told the Chronicle the knife was six inches long.
The owner of the bakery says he’s thankful his employee will be OK.
