Olivia Rodrigo to release first single in 2 years

For Olivia Rodrigo fans, the wait is almost over–the Filipino-American artist is ready to release her new single Vampire, following the Grammy-winning multi-platinum debut of her album Sour in 2021.

Having teased fans on June 2nd with a mysterious countdown on her website and changing the expiration date of the “drivers license” banner on Spotify to June 30th, she officially announced the song would be released on that day with an Instagram post on Tuesday (June 13th):

“my new song vampire is out june 30th! you can presave now. so excited for this ahhhhh!!!!!!! 🖤🩸💜🫀❤️

The post was accompanied by the song’s cover art, a black-and-white profile of the singer’s face, with the only color being a cross of purple band-aids implying the bite wound of a vampire.

On her website, she also posted a slightly longer announcement, and displayed the CD and blood-red vinyl options, which also include the track’s first demo.

Having gained prominence as an actress in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, she broke into the music world with her triple-Grammy album Sour

Olivia Rodrigo proudly describes the Filipino traditions of her father’s family, and hopes to visit the Philippines soon to connect with her family there.

With the topic of the new single, numerous fans and some Twilight actors have been making connections, with Taylor Lautner, who played the werewolf Jacob Black, hilariously commenting “K WHO TF BIT YOU” below her post. Conan Gray, one of the singer’s best friends, commented with a quote of one of Kristen Stewart’s famous lines from the franchise, saying “I know what you are…,” followed by a vampire emoji.
