Chinese Am doctor faces some 50 counts of sexual assault

NYC gastroenterologist Zhi Alan Cheng is facing dozens of additional charges of drugging and raping at least 13 women on video.

Cheng was arraigned on August 7 for charges of sexually abusing three of his patients at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital and raping three other women inside his apartment.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

According to ABC7, however, a search of Dr. Cheng’s home revealed videos of the alleged sex crimes and multiple drugs.

Dr. Cheng is being held on 10 counts of predatory sexual assault, 3 of first-degree rape, 7 of first-degree sexual abuse, 3 of second-degree criminal sexual act, 4 of second-degree assault, 11 of second-degree unlawful surveillance, 4 of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and 8 of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Incidents have also allegedly taken place outside New York in San Francisco, Las Vegas and Thailand. He has not been charged in connection with those incidents so far.

USA Today reports that Dr. Cheng was fired last December from New York-Presbyterian Queens after being accused of sexually assaulting three hospital patients, including a 19-year-old and a “seriously ill” 47-year-old.

Court documents reveal that the women appeared to be unconscious, suggesting they may have been sedated.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz stated that “the recovered evidence compiled paints the picture of a sexual predator of the absolute worst kind, a serial rapist, someone willing to not only violate his sacred professional oath and patients’ trust, but every standard of human decency, as well.”

She vows to “present the facts to a jury and achieve justice for the victims of the horrific assaults captured on video.”

If convicted, Chen will serve several 25-years to life sentences.
