A couple received sentences of 29 to 31 years in prison for the murder of their adopted son from China, reports HuffPost.
John and Katherine Snyder of Hamilton County, Ohio were convicted in the 2016 death of Adam Snyder, 8.
A jury one month ago also found them guilty of abusing their other children, including 5 adopted from China. All of them had learning disabilities.
An advocate for the children spoke in favor of a stiff sentence, reported MEAWW.
“I heard the defense counsel mention earlier the innocence of their clients,” the advocate said in court. “Well, I’m asking you to consider the innocence of my clients, who are the surviving victims of their brother being murdered.”
Prosecutors said Katherine Snyder slammed Adam’s head into the floor because he had soiled his pants, according to the True Crime Daily. She received 31 years to life. Her husband got 29 years to life.
This poor kid comes from China from an orphanage to this family and what do they do? They kill him,” said prosecutor Stacy Lefton.
Prosecutors also said all six of the Snyder children were intentionally malnourished.
