What ever preconceived notions you have of Korean culture get thrown out the window in a New York art exhibition entitled K-Surrogates.
The exhibition at Art Amalgamated features three international artists of Korean descent. Artist Mari Kim ( far left), Jihee Kim ( middle ) and Hye Rim Lee (right) are being exhibited for the first time in New York.Their contemporary work incorporates concepts of anime/manga, cyber culture, music videos and challenges standards of beauty and the proliferation of plastic surgery in Korea.
The exhibition explores women and femininity valued in Korean and broader Asian society. It’ll be on display through November 9th.
