Arrests made in connection with deadly shooting of Officer Tuan Le

Police have made multiple arrests in connection with the deadly shooting of Oakland Police Officer Tuan Le.

Le was shot and killed on December 29 while responding to a burglary at a cannabis dispensary. The suspect(s) shot at Le and other officers on the scene as they fled.

According to NBC Bay Area, arrests were made over the weekend, and one arrest was made on Tuesday.

“This is just the beginning of a lengthy legal process,” the Oakland Police Department said in a statement, per NBC Bay Area. “We are hopeful that it will start the healing for Officer Le’s grieving family and our entire OPD family.”

The OPD says they are mourning the loss of their colleague. According to KTVU, a fellow officer is honoring Le by creating a digital memorial sketch.

Le spent the last two years as a community resource officer in West Oakland. Keisha Henderson, a resident in one of the neighborhoods where Le patroled, spoke to ABC 7 about his impact.

“He always made me feel respected as a community member. I didn’t feel like because I lived in a high crime neighborhood, that he didn’t understand me or want to make a change because things have been like this for so long,” Henderson said.
