Puka Nacua, an NFL rookie wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, broke two NFL records during the third quarter of the Rams’ game against the San Francisco 49ers.
During the third minute of the third quarter, Nacua broke the record for most receiving yards in a season by a rookie. The record had been held since 1960 by Bill Groman. Rams quarterback Carson Wentz and Nacua’s teammates celebrated with the rookie.
In quite literally the next play, Nacua broke another record. He now has the most catches in a single season by a rookie in the NFL with 105 catches.
The Rams will be heading into the playoffs next week. When Nacua broke the records, broadcasters joked on air that Rams head coach Sean McVay looked relieved to be able to pull him from the game and rest him for the playoffs.
After returning to the sidelines, Nacua was able to celebrate with his mother.
