Sunny K. Park remembers life on the streets of Seoul depending on the generosity of American soldiers for hand outs.

Today he a wealthy business man living in Atlanta expressing his eternal gratitude for the US contributions during the Korean War, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Park spent thousands paying for the costs of six billboards thanking the US for helping to keep his country free.  He made a significant donation to help pay for the Korean War memorial near Atlanta and he holds thank you banquets and concerts every year for Korean War veterans.

“We were suffering from the brutal invasion of the north,” said Park in trying to explain his generosity.  “We didn’t have freedom, we didn’t have food. All of a sudden the United States sends troops and we have food and clothes and missionaries.”

You can read more about Park and what Korean War veterans say about him in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
