Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani has his own mural in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.
The mural was painted Boyle Heights artist Robert Vargas on the side of the Miyako Hotel in the historic neighborhood, ABC 7 Los Angeles reports. In the mural, Ohtani is depicted wearing his Dodgers uniform.
According to Los Angeles Daily News, the mural will be officially unveiled on March 27, a day before the Dodgers home opener. The team is currently in South Korea for the Seoul Series. Ohtani made his Dodgers debut during the first game of the series on Wednesday, March 20.
Vargas posted a video of the mural on social media.
Residents and business owners in Little Tokyo say the mural is a welcome sight.
“It’s amazing. I can look at him every day, all day,” said Irene Tokata, a storeowner in Little Tokyo, told NBC Los Angeles. “There is no one in the Japanese and Japanese American community that is not in love with Shohei Ohtani.”
